the best bat toss I ever saw was Brian Greer at the piff,
He made the last out for us in the tourney and threw his bat about 260 feet down the left field line.
He walked off yelling with his bag.
I paced off the distance and it was approx. 260 feet
His bat landed in the wet chalk line (it had been pouring all day)...
whatever they used to line the field ate all the paint off one area of his green riches superior bat.
The next tourney our leadership with everyone around have him his bat back and made a big deal
out of setting the team record for bat toss... Brian didn’t laugh at all..the rest of us rolled over in tears.
whenever he used that bat again we knew he was using it because of the lack of paint..and we’d say..watch out..he is using the Piff bat.
That same weekend was the first time Billy brought out softball
man..to this day..I don’t know if it was the first softball man sighting ever...or..maybe he held out to show us until January 1st
