Although I would have thought Doc and company would have easily caught the error on this, setting the top of the zone issue, with a fixed object on the horizon...
you can still use a fixed object...but if you do...you have to know that object doesn’t always line up with the top of the zone depending on the distance from the plate that the ball is released. and you must be capable of sharing the knowledge that the object is only for reference depending on the release point of the pitch.
I have to gather this umpire is highly regarded..that makes his clinics even more important...
again...the rest of his points were well done...and...I am sure in future umpire clinics Jason will correct his error on trying to teach to set the top of your zone.
what he was teaching was not correct and if a student umpire said how he was setting the top of his zone he would be open to being proven wrong.
