I actually really like the thought of this. I don't think USSSA would lose a lot of money necessarily. The teams wanting to play and qualify would be forced to enter the qualifiers. This would create some drop-off, but not much potentially. NSA used to have an impressive qualification system to make their Super World which I have played in a few times (they may still have this). It felt more meaningful to be there for sure and you knew you were playing good teams every game. There used to be some bigger brackets for these tournaments as well.
I am all for eliminating such prestigious prize packages for every Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter National/World there is. Because of some of these packages, the entry fees have gone up quite a bit. Good food for thought.
