Re: Hitting middle today. Vs yesterday
I have pitched upper level ball for 15 years and retired now. In the metal bat days the sweet spot on a bat was very small compared to today’s bats. The exit speed wasn’t even close! None of us wore masks until Dirty got hit in the face by Milky. Even back then, with shaving bats got popular, if we tested a bat and it was below 250 we thought it was fire! I think Utrip has the right idea with raising the compression number. I just wished it was quicker! The last few year’s even with all the masks and leg guards it is pretty scary when someone like Harvey gets in the box and is trying to hit that right center gap!! Just my 2 cents!! Enjoy the game and remember those pitchers some of you are trying to blow up have jobs, kids, and mortgage payments! In the end....it’s just a game!! God bless!
