Re: Hitting middle today. Vs yesterday
There is a difference between "middle" and going after the pitcher. Like someone posted above, if the pitcher slides over to cover the hole opposite the MI, he might get hit. The problem is when guys change their swing and go after the guy standing 50 feet away. I saw a post on Facebook that said a 90 mph fastball at 60'6" takes .4 seconds to reach home and the batter has .15 seconds to react to hit. Now take 10'6" off of that and increase the speed by 10 mph or more. the pitchers have absolutely no time to react and that's why we have to wear shin guards, helmets, heart guards, etc...think about that the next time you see a pitcher get hit and why we get mad. That ball hurts, even if you get hit in the shin with guards on. I have had ribs broken, fingers broken so for all the cowboys out there that say don't pitch or field your spot better, etc..just stop or man up and pitch. This is a topic that will never get solved and it is what it is.
