you can't change the players, you cant change that major players are not created equal.
the way the conference is played it is played as a showcase to show off what the best of the best CAN DO.
if the conference really wanted to even out, which i don't believe it does as its been referenced it is a showcase series, they would move to 300 +/- fields for the *whole year* and move the HR limits down to 10 or so. limiting the amount that a team can do in a game.
if you did that, you remove the excessive need for the pearsons & harveys of the world with 500' power and are the biggest weapons in the biggest events (hof/smokey/worlds). i believe teams would be built differently and would devalue major players who are stadium power hitters, most major teams are build with these guys.
top to bottom the major teams have the most consistent/capable guys of going out of a stadium. resmondo had their bottom 3 guys briggs ellwanger and bazat hit 8, 14 and 4 hrs which is a huge source of runs which the bottom of major teams, where you hope to find outs, honestly is the biggest divider in classes in my mind. when these guys can go yard and AA/A teams are just hoping their bottom guys get on base.
have to score runs to win games.
fastest way to score a run is by hr
small pool of players can consistently hit home runs in a stadium/large baseball field.
pool of players is much larger for ability to consistently hit it out of a 300' field.
lessens the talent gap the smaller the field.
when 301' counts the same as 400' player value changes. decrease value to 400' player. 400' players still get their homeruns but you probably had to pay for that guy and the lower level guy just has his room paid for counted for the same run.
doesn't mean that the major players won't still be the best players, but limiting what the major players can do in a game lessens the difference, not eliminate, in talent gap.
have to change the game. then the players talent gaps will change.
