I agree with you that those ideas would potentially help address some of these items. The problem is enforcement.
Please don't take it that I am blindly defending the current teams and sponsors. But they are the ones that are participating so they should get some added weight from that vested interest.
I don't think it is proper for a potential new team to say I want in but you have to change these rules first. There are multiple manager/sponsor meetings throughout the year where opinions and concerns may be addressed. So in order to jump in on that discussion you need to jump in the pool and get some toes wet.
Look at someone like Herb or Big Tom Formosa and all the time, energy and effort they have given. While I know either would be open to hearing opinions on ways to improve and grow the game, I don't think it is right for someone that has not played at least one season to tell them how the cow ate the cabbage. Personally, any sponsor or team that is saying they would join conference if certain rules were changed first probably should probably rethink their decision. Conference isn't a very good place for the timid.
