What’s changed from then is softball has become nationalized.
For ALL the years of softballs most popularity, the tourney game was being led by local/regional directors.
Those directors measured success by local tourney attendance.
Those local/regional directors if they were running a great program were rewarded with a regional tourney every few years and NITs.
The destruction of the local/regional tourney softball success started and speed up as soon as filling a few directors hotels and fields for more or less one WORLD event each year became the goal.
Back when softball was being RUN NOT from the national office but instead by REAL SOFTBALL MEN ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY..the game had many more good people nurturing the game. The pie was spread out to more softball men..and the game was much better
