By the way the committee did not say you couldn't play for Thunder. Thunder is allowed to pick up anyone that's available.
Seth, you have a great team and a great shot at the 'AA'. I wish you the best in whatever you do now and in the future even if it isn't in softball.
To everyone, the managers meeting is Friday before the conference championships if the teams want to let us know a better system that usssa can look at and possibly implement in the future then they should let their thoughts be known or they can call me 440-715-3301. If the teams want me to step aside from the committee then I will ask utrip if I can step aside. Remember this is my job so it isn't a decision I would be able to make alone and the committee was something I was appointed to and did not volunteer for. I do the best I can and the committee spent the better part of 5 days on this decision. A decision that you could say was wrong or right either way it went. I will be in the car for 7 hours tomorrow, you all can give me a call and discuss with me a better system. 440-715-3301
People are posting that they know who voted and what they voted. The voting process was closed and nobody outside of the committee knows anything even though they think they do. Trust me it is pure speculation. Seth does not know either.
One of the first rules in every years conference rule book is #1 "Classification is determined by Conference Committee" and #2 "All roster moves create a team classification review".
Roster points aren't even listed in the rule book because they are an off season team building guide and an in season maximum and the rule book is passed out at the Hall of fame classic managers meeting after the season has already started.
Many times we had 'AA' teams that were under the 'A' points limit. Sometimes it matters how many players you had that played Major last year. There are a lot of tools used to classify teams.
It seems like we go through this every year and everyone still falls back on the points to make their argument and forget rule #1 and #2 and chips etc.
Remember if points are everything (which they are not) you could take a team of 12 'AA' zero point players and play 'C' or 'B' or 'A'. Which of course you cannot do.
I've been posting way too much and I apologize to all of the readers for that. So give me a call tomorrow between 11 AM and 6 PM eastern while I'm driving to North Carolina and let me know what we can do better so we don't have to go through this every year.
Thanks for reading.
