1) my views are not in sync? How does. It being able to stick around because of real life commitments have anything to do with the hobby of playing and competing in major level softball?
2) leaving is in no way related to competing a game being played. I doubt very much anyone ,not injured, leaving a tourney wants to stop playing.
3) addressing fans, umpires, vendors, field rentals, field crews, being negatively effected by one team forfieting one game.
Fans...no that’s funny...other then family and a handful of friends how many “fans” do you see when there are 2 to 3 teams left in the tourney?
Umpires..what..one less game for a couple umps? Really..if your really caring about umpires..how about pushing for them to be payed at least $25 dollars a hour and then $35 per hour when they umpire the final five games of a tourneny.
Field rentals and crews...one or two less game is meaningless especially on the turf fields.
Vendors..what vendors? The concessions that sell more stuff at conference events then they do at any other softball event? I would guess conference softball are a cash cow compared to other adult softball events they sell stuff at all year.
Wanting teams to stick around to play major teams at the end..If the fields were more balanced and AA and A teams thought they actually had a chance to be playing at the scheduled Championship game start time...more teams would try to make sure their players were still available/not chasing their flights.
You want A amen AA teams being available for late bracket games..there is an easy answer... you even refered to it in your first reply to me on this thread...
Address the darn 1000 pound gorilla in the room/conference... reduce the HUGE TALENT divide from division to division...
Reduce the points totals and AA and A and put strict limits on major team rosters...oh..I forgot... ALL OF YOU KNOW FULL WELL THE MAJORITY OF MAJOR SPONSORS ARE NOTHING MORE THE SPOILED BRATS THAT WOULD RUN AWAY FROM SOFTBALL BEFORE THEIR SPECIAL TEAMS EVER NEEDED TO COMPETE GAME IN AND GAME OUT.
Dale...Yes.. my belief is most major level sponsors see softball as more or less going into a ##### house and buying “love/victories” game in and game out almost all tourney. They do not crave competition in every game...if they did crave competition game in and game out..they would have pushed for a more balanced program years ago.
When your complaining about lower level teams leaving early...your complaining about an effect of a way out of balance program..when you really need to address the CAUSE that created this EFFECT.
