Always remember Dolly Parton

The world has lost an amazing, amazing musician, song writer, composer, actress, and a person who genuinely gave all she had to help others: The wonderful Dolly Parton.

There will be many news stories told about her career and early life in coming days, but I will always remember her for her love of school marching bands and gifts of library books for children. The following article explains everything.

A good friend of mine was in the band at Northwestern State in La in 1988. Steel Magnolias was being filmed there in town and Bill Brent sent a letter to Dolly's secretary inviting Dolly to sing 9 to 5 with the band during halftime.

No surprise, Dolly was more than happy to oblige. She spent a good part of the day with the band just hanging out and having a good time with the members of the Northwestern marching band.
