Losing Football

I enjoy a competitive football game and season, but I haven’t been a part of one in 7 years. Since I’ve been at my current school, football has gone 14-53 with two 0-10 seasons. Next isn’t looking much better.

It just sucks the life out of everything.

I have been on both ends of this spectrum. 17 straight years of at least 14 games and 2 state champions ship games. Also endured an 8 year span of 1-79. Different schools, but it created at totally different school atmosphere for the year.

...similar to where I'm at. To add insult to injury, the boys who are going into the 10th grade next fall don't listen to the coaches...they listen to their parents who have all told them since they were 2 years old that they are Tom Brady 2.0, and that UT and Alabama are going to fight each other in order to sign them. These boys are 0-30 going back to 7th grade. They have no concept on how to be a team, and how a team functions. They do know how to strike the Heisman Pose. The parents hate the coaches...call them idiots who don't know what they are doing, and actively tell the boys not to listen to them.

Oh, did I mention that theses boys also played in the so-called "Elite" football league before 7th grade? Parents paid big money to get the boys on the team (I guess that's why it's considered "Elite"). They were 0-forever then as well. The parents don't hate those coaches...because they are the coaches in "Elite".

Was part of a school that went 0-40. Ahhh… The good ol’ days.

Get on Maxpreps and create a scorigami chart for your team.

A scorigami is a unique football score that has never happened before, a completely useless stat, but you can always pull for a scorigami.

Multiple late playoff runs and December football games.

Most of my time where I'm at we've been playoff bound at least one round, and went four games one year. Out of nowhere a few years ago we had a 1-9 season. That was the MOST miserable year I've ever seen for the morale of the school. It's like they gave up being successful at EVERYTHING the rest of the year.

I'll gladly play football until December to not have to deal with that again. (Not likely to be an issue with our new district and status of being one of the smallest 3As in the state. I doubt we win district this year)

The best we'll be in the next 5-6 years will 3rd place in district, meaning we would draw the #2 of our playoff district in the first round.

Of course, when the former AD said that, they went and got a new AD. Like that's going to change anything.

I'll never forget my first away game in Stafford and the announcer was so bored by the terrible Spartan football team, that he was acting like a DJ for the band and introducing each song..."that was Land of 1,000 Dances performed by the SPARTAN BAND under the direction of ROOOOOOD ROOOOODRIGUEZ!"
