It’s not really a well written piece. It drags on for far too long and the opening is just trumpets and snare alone on beat one (which honestly should have felt like beat 4) with 1 &a 2 rhythm, not hard but isolated. It’s not crazy difficult but there’s a lot of just nothing in it musically.

I saw my local band here perform it. Thought it was a really well written tune. The fanfare is appropriate, and some really strong lines for horn/sax/tuba in the chantey. Its far better than what has been done in the past for sure.

It really isn’t that bad at all and the Sea Shanty section is actually quite catchy!
