Tubas!

I fear that my tubas (on all campuses) are aging to the point where repair is not worth the cost. What instruments have you had success with recently? Price is always a concern, but necessary at a point. 4 valve is probably preferred. Thanks in advance.

The St. Petersburg 202 model is a solid model for the money. I just got some new ones this year and they are great instruments. I also have some that are 20 years old and we are still using them. For the money i don't think you can beat it.

I also suppose what poison pill have you swallowed? is there a brand that should be avoided if possible?

Based on some recent purchases and the recent news about production moving overseas, I would not buy anything from Conn-Selmer.

We have Yamaha tubas and I'm very happy with them. If you have the money, miraphone are the gold standard.

Check Orion's OBB410L. It's 2341 styled and has an excellent price.

I recommend a King 2341W. King has made this model for decades. They're extremely well built and durable, and play well in tune.

The 2341W tubas will not be made in the USA in the near future. Any new orders will probably be a Chinese made instrument. Won't be able to vouch for them till I see them

No one will be making tubas in the US. Conn-Selmer tentatively announced that they were shutting down the production line in Eastlake, moving professional brass production to Elkhart, and farming everything else out of country, primarily to China.
