Fine Arts Educators Needed to Evaluate Instructional Materials for Music, Visual Arts, Theatre, and Dance
The State Board of Education (SBOE) and Texas Education Agency (TEA) are seeking music, visual arts, theatre, and dance educators to participate in the Instructional Materials Review and Approval (IMRA) process. IMRA is designed to ensure that all Texas students have access to instructional materials that are accurate, aligned to state standards, suitable, appropriate, and of the highest quality.
Compensation: Quality reviewers earn a base rate of $4,500* and approximately 100 CPE professional development credit hours. Suitability reviewers earn a base rate of $3,500* and approximately 40 CPE hours.
Qualifications: Quality and suitability reviewers must have Texas residency. In addition, quality reviewers must have at least three years of teaching experience or equivalent education experience.
*Final compensation varies based on content area, number of assigned programs, training completion, additional responsibilities, and rounds of appeals. The provided rates represent the minimum compensation for reviewers. We will provide an update with pay ranges at a later date.

They’re putting together a paid committee to go over/update/align the state curriculum standards for fine arts (which includes band). If anyone feels like they would want to participate in this endeavor, they should follow the link and submit their application. Obviously, we’d all like to have actual teachers with experience and expertise in best practices…. Being the ones who decide what the state curriculum and standards should be.
