My cheerleader sponsor asked me what she needs to do to get the rights to a specific pop song for their spirit competitions. I'm familiar with getting an arrangement license for marching band, but don't know what kind of license she would need to get to use a recording for cheer.
Also, would she have to go through (ugh) Tresona, or is there somewhere else I should send her?

Have her call Tresona. As much as we don't like them, what you're asking for is literally what they do.
