Any advice on applying for jobs that aren't open? I have to make a move across the state but no positions are open. The area usually has openings. Is it taboo or desperate to apply to the district(s) now in hopes of being an early bird? I would mostly be applying to 4A and down.

I don't see it as a problem. In fact, I have done this, and when a position opens, I send in my resume, and inform them that everything is already turned in. In some cases, I've gotten interviews and the principal mentioned that my being "ahead of the game" was a factor in my getting the interview.
