Clarinet Barrel not completely going down

Good morning y'all! I have a student with a Jupiter 750 clarinet that has a barrel that will not go down all of the way and she is flat. It looks like it was manufactured that way...has anyone else seen this? Is the Jupiter clarinet just like that?

Wood moves. Repeat that to yourself. Wood moves.

Humidity makes wood swell.

You can sand down the inner tenon socket of the barrel or let the shop do it for you.

There is a reason that the top bassoon and oboe manufacturers let their wood age for 15+ years

Yes. We bought 6 Buffet clarinets a few years ago and 4 had this issue. Som it isn't just a Jupiter issue.

It's a wood clarinet. The tenon has swollen. Take it to the shop where you bought it and it's an easy fix.

Sometimes a clarinet body isn't bevelled properly, yes. Send it to the shop where they bought it.
