Our school has been asked to combine our color guard and drill team. What schools are already using this model that we could talk to or take a look at? Thanks in advance.

We did it this year. Make sure the expectations are clear from day one of the sign up process. Both you and the drill team sponsor must be crystal clear on what will happen and what won’t, and hold the students (and their parents) accountable. Have an honest and serious discussion with the admin about having your back in the face of an angry dance mom. If they’re not on board with telling a mom “you can do what you’re expected to or you can withdraw from the group, it’s not going to be worth it.
They absolutely MUST be in rehearsals and get used to rehearsal procedures and etiquette. They will now have two jobs - their original drill team job and a halftime show. The drill sponsor is going to have to figure out how to plan for and achieve learning everything in a timely manner. And you’re going to have to hold them accountable when it isn’t learned.
They don’t hurt you much at region if they’re not together, but they’ll absolutely tank at area if they’re not selling the performance.
Done well, it’s beautiful. Done badly, it’s a disaster.

We performed with both for a while. Each situation is different but I would be happy to speak about our experiences.
