Transposing Question

I am having a complete brain spasm at the moment...bassoon can read a BC baritone part without any modifications, right?

I'm not trying to be rude, but I'm not looking for "Why would you want to?" I have a million things on my mind and have thought through the substitution for a long time. I have convinced myself that bassoon can read the part, but I'm second, third, and fourth guessing myself.

The second guessing might come from the tenor clef since bassoons play that sometimes, but using a baritone or trombone part will work just fine

Bassoons play in Tenor Clef about as much as trombones do - or as horns play in bass clef.

And practically never in most common band music.

We're not playing Wagner. Much.

They can read it. Both concert pitch instruments and Bassoon reads BC. Best of luck!

Yes. In fact, it should be in a very comfortable range for the bassoon.

What range issues will you have? The standard 2-octave+ range of a baritone sits in the "pocket" of the bassoon range.

Correct, but the range may not be optimal.

Young band music commonly is printed with Bassoon, Trombone, and BC Baritone all listed as the same part on the same page.
