The part says snare drum, bass drum, and cymbals, but there's nothing to indicate what the cymbal part is. I think that playing everything the bass drum plays would be over kill.
When I've done it, I've kind of ad hoc-ed when it plays and doesn't. It is overkill to play every note the bass does, but phrase intros, phrase endings, and the last phrase work pretty well.
