Anyone got creative, affordable Christmas gift ideas for band students? I try really hard to do something thoughtful for each kid. I’ve naively discovered in recent years that some kids really don’t have much of a home life. And every year, when the tree goes up in the band hall, I learn it’s the only tree some of them help decorate. It’s their second home and is exciting for them. I started a little tradition few years ago of decorating the tree with little gifts for each kid (it’s a big tree). I’ve made instrument ornaments with their names, little stockings stuffed with little gifts, small pouches of pencils personalized with names, pens with names personalized, and my favorite: tiny band hats that looked like our shakos. They now look forward to it… and I’m at a loss. Any suggestions?
