Welcome to being a teacher? You've been at it for a while, you should know how it works at this point.

I have never once, not once, needed to administer CPR on anyone. But I'm required to get CPR training every two years - and I have been for my whole career. (My district requires elementary staff to have CPR training too.)

I have never once dealt with teen dating violence. Yet I complete PD on that annually as well. I don't even teach teenagers.

Part of the drill, part of what we do. No sense complaining.

Sure, and if they decide to make teachers clean all the toilets instead of replacing any custodial staff, it's just part of the drill, part of what we do, no sense complaining, other duties as assigned. Right to work states. And, teachers wonder why they are getting more and more stupidity unrelated to their actual degrees, dumped on them. Well, I don't have to deal with any of the nonsense any more. I'm retired and don't miss schools. I miss the kids, but the longer I taught, the less I got to just teach.

I think complaining helps people relieve some stress and perhaps find some comfort when other people can empathize.

District PD, especially in large districts, are just administrators trying to make they still have a job. Redundant.
