The last time I purchased flutes was in 2014, and they did include tuning rods.

I have mixed feelings if that’s the case. They’re really only normally useful for kids to swab out the flute. I honestly never want a kid to be the one to adjust the cork…
You can buy some cheap ones, but I am surprised they wouldn’t ship with them. I haven’t noticed this yet since I think almost all of my kids ended up with used flutes this year.

My experience has been that most of them wont come with a tuning / swab rod. You have to buy it separately. Make sure you get wooden or plastic rods, the metal rods scratch the instrument
