Dr. Kent and Mr. Breithaupt,
We thank you for bringing State Marching Band competition to folks who could not attend in San Antonio. Many of us show the performances to our students, and many students do watch on their own.

To further those goals, we politely but firmly ask that NFHS either be trained how to video marching bands or that you find a different vendor to do so. What we are seeing frankly does not focus on the needed aspects or sections as they are playing. In fact, there have been camera shots of the ceiling!

We understand that NFHS has a contract with UIL, but our students deserve so much better than the shoddy work presented today.

Impact Video Concepts did great videos back in the 80s and 90s for crying out loud. Wish they were still around.

did this happen? Shouldn’t there be a collaboration between the contractor in question and UIL Music? At a minimum, something should have been communicated in advance letting us know that the level of service would be different. There is NO WAY that musicians in that office didn’t know this would happen. We can’t just blindly hold Briethaupt accountable without being balanced in our approach. This blind accountability has happened the last few years, and as a fair-minded person, it’s disappointing to witness. Yes, I do see that the “open letter” is addressed to both. To be rather honest, others within our field have been concerned about conflicts of interest affiliated with this event. I don’t see any open letters about that. Let’s see if the responses prove my point.

100% agree...very poor job. I don't care what the Alamodomes ceiling looks like...nor do I care for the ads.

I agree. It is obvious this company is accustomed to filming athletic events and not band competitions. From placement, or types mics used, to the fact those filming have no clue where to look, this coverage is terrible. I

Unfortunately, I missed Duncanville due to buffering issues. I think they should have come on air, at least 15 minutes early, in case of problems. Timing it to start with the first band's performance is very risky.
