Composers and arrangers deserve to be paid for their effort and expertise. They can't eat exposure or advertising.

It's done at the state level so I'm assuming it could be done at Area.

Honestly the legal side has been figured out by Box5TV and FloMarching. The bigger issue is the production staffs have to be paid, and you'd have to have so many across the state simultaneously. Maybe you could just do the overhead view (which I'm sure most of us would appreciate), but that's not their normal production.
The bigger hurdle though is that it's not something most of the area coordinators I know of would be wanting to mess with. The revenues from those sites definitely add up, and I highly doubt they would get that big of a cut of the cheese from whoever was streaming it. Plus there are still some smaller contest like the one we hosted yesterday for the 2As with just a handful of bands.
Maybe if the state coordinated it with a company it might be feasible, but that's a lot of copyrights to deal with. I know BOA has you filling out your copyright paperwork way in advance of everything so they can have the rights sorted out. State Marching Contest there's a lead time of a week, but fewer bands at least.
