We had it fully on for the first game, which is our usual goal. I've been a part of the process when we took until the end of September to learn sets just before the first contest and you just don't have enough reps in my opinion to nail the end. The other thing that it balances out in a big way is the rain we've been having. The number of my friends posts on facebook that they are putting song 1, or don't have 2 on the field would have me seriously stressed myself. |
When do you hit the panic button? That's going to vary depending on your expectations, where you live, and a lot of things. For me we didn't have the full show on the field until the 2nd or 3rd week last year and that was my moment. I think in general I would probably look at being stressed if I didn't have it at least by the end of September with a couple weeks to clean before UIL? At that point I'd be looking at that minimal show length and figuring out what I could do to make things work.
I have seen other groups though that can manage the longer time if they're really being nitpicky as they go along. There are many upper level groups who may not have it all until just before the first contest. For some that can work.
As far as I'm concerned though I am happy to be in total cleaning mode at this point!
