Cardiac ablation is a procedure to destroy some bad heart tissue that is sending signals that cause rhythm issues. Instead of open heart surgery catheter tubes are run from the groin or neck to the heart. Dyes are put through the tubes to help the doctors see the heart problems. Then heat or cold energy is applied to destroy(ablate) the troubling tissues. Risks are there but are minimized by knowledgeable doctors. Centers of specialisation like the Baylor Heart Hospital in Plano deal with atrial fibrillation cases and are excellent.|
