Actually, I did get credit for winning a playoff game a long time ago. |
Second job was at a small school. I grew up in a big school, first job in a big school, never heard of the '3rd quarter break', and no one ever said anything until after the first game - then they said a lot. I was young and hard headed and wasn't going to back down. We stayed in the stands, gave them a drink and a snack, didn't play unless we scored. There were even a couple of incidents during the season that quietly reinforced why I wanted them in and not under the stands.
Great FB team. Beat the snot out of everyone we played. Second or third playoff game we were actually behind at halftime for the first time that year 14-7. 3rd quarter I announced we were going to get things rolling and played the team down the field the first two times on offense (short things after each 1st down, etc). Two touchdowns and we ended up winning easily.
As we were packing up heard several dads say while they were passing us that the band had gotten us back into or won the game in the 3rd quarter.
