Sometimes, if the educator leads in a way that the superintendent/school board doesn't like, that educator/leader is out of a job at year end, or even before. |
In many cases here, building principals are bowing to pressure put on them from the community, since many people in our communities are pretending that C19 isn't a serious issue and that any mitigation of transmission is a political issue rather than one for safety.
The Peter principle applies as well too. But also you HAVE TO consider, studies have shown that the average education major graduated in the bottom-quintile of GPAs in their colleges. We aren't always getting the best and brightest as our colleagues. Add to that the fact that the really good or effective teachers tend to stay in the classroom, and you understand the barrel that we scrape, metaphorically, to find our leadership.
If more band directors, STEM teachers, and GT folks would go into administration, it might get better - but how many of us know a band director or two that was a principal for a few years then "got out of that" because they couldn't deal with the admin side of things?
