I have four. One for Cl/BC, one for all saxes, one for high brass, and one for low brass.
You're right, they will knock against each other. So either don't open that cabinet as often, find somewhere else to put them, or .. accept that they aren't made of fine china and won't break. Also, LAY THEM DOWN in the box, don't try to stand them on end.
That being said, this is a GREAT time to buy some quality ligatures like Rovner, BG, or Bonade, and CAP the mouthpieces so they're protected while in storage.
