In my experience, they are looking for something like: |
"I would start by redirecting that student back to the activity. If that doesn't work, I would try addressing the behavior specifically with that student, doing my best to not target that student in front of the other students. Further actions would include contacting their parents and working with them to find ways that might engage that particular student better during rehearsal."
Basically, the principal doesn't want you to be trigger happy with writing a child up and sending them to the office. They want to know that you have some other tools in your belt for management. You could follow up with something like this, and that might help you look good:
"Ultimately, my goal is to develop relationships with all of my students and a set of classroom procedures that would minimize behavioral issues and maximize engagement during class."
This is just from my experience. I'm sure others might feel differently.
