For China cymbals the Zildjians do sound nicer, and may hold up better, but for front ensemble I tend to get the most bang for the buck out of the Steve Weiss Wuhan brand cymbals. For the price you can replace them when they inevitably crack. |
I like our Sabian splash cymbals that are cheaper for that sound.
For outdoor suspended cymbals I bought a set of the Steve Weiss Brand Sus cymbals a couple years back. At $99 per cymbal it was a pretty economical investment to have matching cymbals. They're not our Constantinoples, but how much are you really hearing cymbal overtones out on a football field?
We have really nice percussion equipment at this point, and some very nice cymbals. I tend to think that there is a point of diminishing returns on some equipment versus the cost you're spending.
