CTE / Elective Meeting - Student Voting

We're a small district with 80 students in the high school and this year admin is pushing CTE / Dual-Credit / Electives hard for next year. |
Teachers for each class offered will speak to all students 7th - 11th about classes offered for next year. The students then will fill out a survey for them to build a schedule that best fits the choices.
In the past band students in 8th grade get the option of HS Band or Spanish 1, which has greatly helped keep students that first year of high school band. With all the options coming available I'm concerned about how many kids I will lose.
We've had great success over the years with advancement to State Marching, Superior Ratings across the board, and growth in numbers. I was anticipating a growth into the 50s for next year. Not so sure now.

I'm uncertain on how many of these electives are available to 8th grade, but I do know they only have two electives and athletics will take one for many of them. My guess is Art, Animal Science, and Band will be available to the 8th grade students. I know a ton of students that love art and band and do not like putting them in a position of choosing as band requires more time and work physically. Many students would just go the route of art.
Kids generally seem happy with the band program and I felt I have built a connection with in high school band. Seventh grade is itching to try new things as most middle school students are, and I'm worried about the numbers coming up.
What would you talk about in your 3-5 minutes to help persuade students to stick with band?
