It looks like our Spring Concert is going to be live and in-person. I'm looking for suggestions for a Grade 2 song to play for a finale. The kind of thing that brings the house down or a least gets a standing ovation. Ideas appreciated.
Parents getting to see their kids on something besides a computer screen will bring the house down. I liked Robert W. Smith stuff because it had good grooves and could build. Easier stuff sounded harder and some of the harder stuff had some good meat to it. And younger kids tend to love it. Repetitive but they'll walk out singing the hook and that's kind of the point.
Easy: Fireball! -Beck, Adrenaline Engimes -Standridge, El Taco Picante -Sheldon Medium/Hard: Panther in the Sky -Swearingen, Creed -Himes, Rites of Tamburo -R.W. Smith Have a great concert!

Zooveniers by Randall Standridge has always done well for me at that level. It's setup to where you could shorten it if you need to by not doing all of the 'movements.'
There's an arrangement of the Wizard of Oz (I think it's the Highlights one) by Michael Story that has three movements. I used to have it in the rotation with my top JH band. It's marked easy, but by the time you deal with it being a medley it's more of a 2. If you want to really bring down the applause do some sort of slideshow or video with the kids playing at the same time as the last movement on over the rainbow. Maybe senior pictures?
