Online Master of Music?

Surveying my options for a primarily online-only Master's Degree in Music Education. Looking to get started in the summer or fall this year. Anyone have any good recommendations or insight beyond anything readable on the university websites? I have seen and read a bit about the Texas Tech and Tarleton State programs. Any additional info or opinions greatly appreciated!

I cannot recommend Texas Tech's program enough. It is absolutely fantastic. They were far ahead of the curve in terms of online, synchronous and asynchronous classes well before the current predicament forced everyone to pivot to that model.

More importantly, their MMED is truly geared toward the teacher who intends to stay in the classroom. There's a great blend of research alongside practical, classroom-driven classes that deepens your knowledge of pedagogy.

I finish this summer and have nothing but praise for Texas Tech. If summer and virtual are important parameters, Texas Tech is the way to go. You won't regret it.

I was a member of the first class online Masters program through Tarleton. I recommend the program. The faculty is very helpful and I enjoyed my time.

I received a Masters in Music-Conducting from Messiah University in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. It's a great school. I did the "normal" fall/spring semesters online, via Canvas, and there some summer intensives, pedagogy classes and a conductor's symposium. I have ZERO regrets and nothing but nice things to say about the program.

With that being said, they just started a MME program last fall. I don't know much about it, but I can tell you, if it's as good as their conducting program, which it probably is, you're in good hands.

As far as tuition is concerned, its grad school, it's gonna be costly.

It's not 100% online, but I can't recommend American Band College enough!!! www.bandworld.com/abc

In a "normal" year, you travel to Ashland, OR for a couple of weeks in the summer, then do you projects through the school year. Think TMEA and your favorite band camp, but on steroids!
