Ship's bell

What am I supposed to use for a ship's bell?
A tune I'm thinking of playing on our Spring concert calls for one.
(That is if we even have a Spring concert)

I used an old riding lawnmower blade hung on a cymbal stand. I filed down the edge for safety.

We used a break drum when we played a piece that called for it.

We used one for our marching band show last year. I ended up just going on Amazon and searching "Ship's Bell" - I think I paid about 30 bucks for smallish one (probably more decorative than anything) - rigged it to be mounted on a drum stand - worked great.

Does your football team have a big bell they ring for touchdowns?

If you don't want to buy one, you can approximate by hitting the bell of a cymbal with the backside of a stick.
