This was what we decided on breathing tubes, mouthpiece buzzing, and woodwind mouthpieces for our program this yea too. Just too risky in my opinion if you have a COVID positive kid. |
If you really are married to the idea of using them inside, I would take and triple up some fabric you would make mask out of, and add another layer of MERV13 fabric inside of it. That layer has to be disposable as it loses its effectiveness after two washes. With that in place though you're probably at near N90 levels according to the CSU research. Not sure I would totally bank on it though!
Even with an ideal cover solution, I think there's a lot of risk there. By the way someone suggested balloons or gloves one time when this came up. Be careful with that, because if you blow up a balloon full of COVID particles remember that air is going to come out of that balloon - and probably pressurized to spread it more.
We decided this year was going to need to start differently. There's going to be some bad habits we normally would correct when we finally get masks off next year at some point. We're just happy to have our kids playing and mostly moving through our books at the JH level.
