Auditorium Recording ?

Hello,

Due to social distancing our larger ensembles will not fit on our auditorium stage. Recording question - if we were to setup the ensemble in the audience facing the stage, would we still get most/some/any of the auditorium acoustical benefits? Or would we be better off setting up in the cafeteria?

Not in the same way. Doesn't necessarily mean it will be terrible though and it will most likely be better than in a cafeteria. Don't overthink it. Everyone is just trying to get by and it'll be okay if a recording isn't fantastic.

right now my plan is to record in the auditorium audience seating. My issue is percussion. If we put them in the back, we'll need to put everyone back. We could put mallets in the front, and battery in the aisle. Still mulling it over. Also looked at using a local "church" sanctuary with chairs.
