How in the world is "Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann" a class 2 Euphonium solo? Asking for a friend.

Weird. It's a Class 1 for Bassoon and Bari sax.

...that's not as weird as it seems. There are quite a few pieces on the list that are Class 1 for some instruments, but Class 2 for others.

Because they took all of the decent, achievable Class 1 solos and moved them to Class 2 about five-six years ago now, because too many people were taking "easy solos" to TSSEC and making the contest last too long.
