At what point is it a bad idea to perform at Area marching. Case in point, this year the band numbers are down, (72, allowed kids the option to not march this year due to covid concerns) covid "friendly" spaced drill, 12 holes due to grades (only 3 in battery), another 3 lost to quarantine and possibly up to 4 more (I will know tomorrow). I want to push through for the seniors but a what cost. At what point do you lose the integrity of the show. Is it going to be the experience you want your seniors to go out on? Even if we have a great run I don't see how the judges would advance a band with so many holes in it. |
I'm super proud of these kids but we have battled parents, admin, nurses, etc. the entire time with being allowed to even put a show on the field due to covid. All the while apparently helmets and shoulder pads stop covid. As well as the magical volleyball net that sanitizes every time the ball crosses over.
Easy thing to do would be to say we are done and pack it up...but is that the right thing. I seriously think if I asked the band just about everyone would say pack it up except for the 11 seniors and a handful of others.
Any thoughts would be helpful...even the rude and obnoxious ones (for a laugh)
