Your thoughts and opinions needed

Hey everybody, long time no see. I used to post here a lot; now I'm retired and working at a music store. But enough about that. |
I have written a novel that I'm currently shopping around to literary agents. Most of these agents aren't from the South, aren't musicians (a couple are), and have no inkling about the ins and outs of being a Band Director.
I have written a mystery with a paranormal twist: the twist is that the same gene that inspires people to be musicians, writers, artists, etc, is the same gene that causes vampirism. When that person who has the gene dies, he or she has about a 50/50 chance at a Second Life.
My story is about a female college band director who solves mysteries with the help of her sheriff's detective husband and her vampire colleague Johannes Brahms. Along the way, she has to deal with faculty politics, the murders of two of her best trombonists, a troublesome stalker, and the possibility that she herself might one day become a vampire.
It is set in a fictional town and county in East Texas along the Trinity River.
I need to extrapolate some data so I can tell literary agents my potential target audience. Is this something you would be interested in reading? Would you be interested in a series? This debut novel is set during the fall and deals with marching band. I had thought to do a series dealing with TMEA, Spring Break trips overseas, TBA, etc.
