I welcome this input because if KHS America does not know, we are not able to assist or improve. However, I have been the Business Development Manager for the last 15 years. During that time, like 12ish years ago, we actually removed the 4 valve sousaphone from manufacturing to detailed research and development and then it was re-introduced. |
Pertaining to the valves...yes, there have been concerns meanwhile we continue to research and improve with some of the best technology in manufacturing today! Depending on the exact specifics, we currently use stainless steel valves. The other avenue to address is how to improve sluggish valves beyond obvious concerns. First, if you do not use Blue Juice Valve oil, I highly suggestion trying such since this valve oil works amazingly with Jupiter valves. In addition, in the past, it has been understood if a valve is sluggish, a repairman must lap a valve casing. We have recently realized this is not the proper method to correct sluggish valves. Although this does wonders to the casing, there still may be something wrong with the valve; so buffing the valve with a course compound has corrected the concern immediately.
