My superintendent includes me on a lot of the big stuff for the district. Last thing I know of was TEA sending out a document on 9-2. This was the only line that might even pertain: |
Schools may continue to offer extracurricular activities, at their discretion and consistent with the guidance in this document, for non-UIL extracurricular activities and with the guidance found on the UIL website for all UIL activities.
That would seem to allow for it.
I agree with you, traveling right now seems foolish beyond belief. I can see some of the Ag stuff with being remote and isolated. Sports are not a great idea, but we've started them and it's going to take a lot to shut that down again. Regular field trips though? I would suggest pushing them back to spring if they really must go forward. Cases are beginning to rise and just finding places to use bathrooms safely on a field trip seems like a major issue to me. Add in time on buses, exposure to general public, etc... Not a wise idea for most places.
I will say if a school could distance kids on buses and go to places like wildlife preserves I could justify that.
