Talking to admin about bad pep rally plan

My admin has decided that our pep rally this week needs to me more packed with people. As a result, we now have both the high school and junior high students attending in the stands inside the gym. Furthermore, they're wanting to seat as many parents as humanly possible. Everyone is supposed to be spaced by one seat, and this technically will count as being appropriately distanced due to everyone wearing masks. |
By this plan, my band is being asked to stand in a gigantic circle bordering the gym floor. Any band members who don't fit in this will be in the stands on one side, approximately twenty to thirty feet from the nearest students on the gym floor. Any band students who don't fit there are supposed to stand on the outer concourse. This would place them at an undefined distance from the nearest band member. This entire thing strikes me as an acoustic nightmare. The gym is extremely boomy, and I can't see anything staying together or even being musically recognizable. Am I correct in this assumption? If so, how do I explain this to my principal and superintendent? I can't see this being anything less than an utter catastrophe, and could see our band catching heat from admin if we don't sound good at this event.
