Searching for Arrangement Statewide

Good Morning, Texas band directors. I live in North Carolina, and for almost a year I have been searching for a particular piece of music that my high school band played. It was the theme song for the Newport News High School Typhoon Marching Band of Newport News, VA and was played at every football halftime show throughout the 60s and until the school was closed in 1971. There is a good chance that it is currently being performed in Texas. |
I am referring to the theme from the 1956 movie GIANT, which is subtitled This Then Is Texas. The composers are Dimitri Tiomkin and Paul Francis Webster, and this specific arrangement was written by Hugh Conrad and copyrighted in 1956 by M. Witmark & Sons. My research has found that after several mergers and buy-outs, final publication rights are with Hal Leonard. Although they do carry a piano/vocal sheet music version, the marching band arrangement is "permanently out of print" and they are legally not allowed to keep any copies.
Is it possible that you have this arrangement in your library? I would be happy to pay for a PDF of the conductor's score, or any of the individual parts. I plan to use my software to create an MP3 to share with my former bandmates. Being out of print, this would not violate any copyright laws.
We prefaced our performance with an 8-measure fanfare taken from a book of fanfares, the title and publisher of which I have absolutely no idea, and am certain I will never find, but perhaps I will stumble upon it one day. If you should happen to have a booklet of short fanfares, please let me know as well.
Thanks for your help, and all the best to all the bands for this unique school year and beyond!
