Smaller the school, higher the percentage. Honestly those numbers seem pretty high. For the big schools, a 10% target is good, but often fall below. 3500 kids on an suburban 6A campus, 10% is 350 in band. Even places like Allen, where they field 600, the school is around 6000. Again, still 10%. |
One of the things that skews the small school number higher is using 8th and even 7th graders. Those kids aren't counted in enrollment numbers, but obviously are considered part of the band size count, so they pad the percentage. Not saying anything wrong about using them, whatever, just be aware that is a factor that skews the percentage in the smaller schools.
