I think you are right that we will see a spike, but I think it will be sooner than mid-July. I see it by the end of June. But, you are wrong that it will "result in cracking back down on things". I think that horse has left the barn. You will see a MASSIVE backlash against going back to what we had from mid-March to the beginning of May. You aren't going to get people to stay inside when the weather is warm and they've already made summer plans. The rate of infection is going to have to be higher than it was at its peak, and even then good luck getting people to comply. But, the cases (active cases) keep going up in Texas yet, they still find a way to spin it so it doesn't seem so bad. The shutdown prevented a lot of cases (the estimate is up to 60M in the US), but the novelty of staying at home has worn off. Now that people are out, they aren't going back in. |
