My idea will work if you hide the time signature in staff attributes, then "build" a time signature using the expression tool (the mf). Let me know if you need me to clarify. |
The song is in common time with 4 phrases. There is a quarter note pickup (with text) at the beginning of the song. On the 4th, 8th, and 12th measures there is a dotted half at the beginning of the measures, followed by a quarter note "pickup" for the next phrase. I would like to break the measure between the two notes and place the quarter note on next line with the text. Hopefully then, there would be no bar line after the dotted half note, but after the quarter note where it belongs.
I have no idea if Finale has a way to do this in it's design, and I
haven't tried it, but it might be possible to cheat by creating a 3/4 bar at the end of the line and a 1/4 measure at the beginning, then hiding the time signatures. Should be possible.
