Oh wow. I had thought of applying, but I saw the Theatre Arts. I was not aware of the music history class option. I love teaching music history, concert band, and jazz. |
I had kids qualify for ATSSB All-State Jazz, ATSSB All-State Band, TPSMEA Middle School All-Region Band and TPSMEA High School All-State Band. I'm a woodwind person but I feel comfortable teaching brass and percussion at the ms/hs level.
I'm looking to relocate. I'll take a look at the application.
Last August, my life changed for the better when I was hired at Aristoi Classical Academy in Katy, Texas as the 2nd Band Director. I love the job, the students, the parents, and the administration. Now, the other band director has resigned to move back to her home up north, and a band director position is now open.
I'm a trombonist so my specialty is Brass, her's was woodwinds so that would be an ideal candidate but I know they will consider all applicants.
The position would be for the Upper campus, (6-12), we'd be team teaching all band classes. There is NO marching band!
The concert band next year will be approximately 40 kids. We took 7 students to Region last year and all of them made it to Area. Again, great kids, great hours (7:15 - 4:00). Go to the ATSSB or TMEA job searches for more info and to apply. Region 23. Tremendous growth potential! *(Everyone always says that, but at Aristoi, it's actually true!)
In the interest of full disclosure, the band director hired would ALSO be teaching either 8th Grade Musical Theater or 7th Grade Music History. It would kind of be your choice; whichever subject you wanted to teach, I'd be teaching the other.
Happy to answer any questions here!
